Who is eligible for the Love Box® program?

Families with at least one child connected to the foster care community living in the home are eligible for Love Box®.

We celebrate permanency. Families and youth who are already matched may continue in the program for up to two years after reaching permanency – including reunification, adoption, or guardianship.

What kind of support will I receive?

Support is personalized to your family, your needs, and what feels most helpful in this season. At the heart of Love Box® is relationship. Each family is thoughtfully matched with a dedicated volunteer who shows up in consistent, caring ways at least once a month.

Support might look like:

Dropping off a care package filled with thoughtful essentials
Babysitting so you can take a much-needed break
Helping with homework or school projects
Delivering a meal during a busy or overwhelming season
Stopping by with coffee and a listening ear
Cheering you on at events – or joining your crew at the pumpkin patch
Simply showing up, month after month, so you don’t have to do this alone

Because no two families are the same, support remains flexible and responsive. As trust builds, the relationship grows – bringing encouragement, stability, and moments of joy along the way.

What is the time commitment?

Love Box volunteers commit to at least one in-person connection with your family per month and a minimum one-year commitment, renewed annually.

While many of our matches continue far beyond a year, we begin with one year to protect stability and ensure families can rely on the volunteer’s presence.

Is there anything our family must commit to?

Accepted Answer

To help create a strong and meaningful match, we ask families to:
Be open to building a caring, consistent relationship with a volunteer
Connect in person 1–2 times per month
Engage in relationship-building through scheduling, meetups, and open communication
Stay in touch with your Case Manager and respond to calls or messages in a timely way
Participate by choice, because this works best when everyone feels ready and willing

How are we matched in the program?

After reviewing your completed application, each Love Box® family is supported by a dedicated Angels Case Manager and thoughtfully matched with a volunteer Love Box Leader.

We take great care in the matching process – considering location, schedules, shared interests, family dynamics, preferences, and what matters most to you. The more we understand your family, the more intentional we can be.

Most importantly, you remain in control. You have the final say, and we will never move forward unless you feel fully comfortable and ready.

Are volunteers background checked?

Yes. The safety and well-being of your family is our highest priority.

All volunteers complete a thorough application, background screening, and reference check before being approved and matched with a family.

Are volunteers trained?

Accepted Answer

Previous knowledge of the foster care system is not required.

All volunteers receive training in trauma-informed care and understand the high-level realities of foster care. While they are not clinical professionals, they are caring, committed individuals who are equipped to support your family with empathy and understanding.

What can I expect from my Case Manager?

Your Love Box® Case Manager walks alongside your family – offering guidance, resources, and support tailored to your unique needs.

Your Case Manager will:
Connecting with you regularly to check in on your family’s needs and progress
Coordinating resources that can support your children and your home
Providing guidance and advocacy as you navigate the foster care system and community services
Supporting your volunteer match – helping ensure the relationship stays consistent, positive, and aligned with your family’s goals
Answering questions and offering encouragement so your family feels seen, heard, and supported

Your Case Manager is a trusted partner – helping make the Love Box experience steady, meaningful, and uplifting for your entire time.
